White Rock Lake is the home of Dallas Running Club, but many of our members live throughout other areas of the DFW metroplex. Below are some of the places that our members love to run.
Located at Northwest Highway (Loop 12), just east of Central Expressway, White Rock Lake has a pleasant setting and park trails which amount to about 9 miles for one loop. Runners come from all over the metroplex to train and run races held at the lake. The path segment which opened in April 2001 shortened the distance by about 200'. The Veloway which opened last month shortened the distance by about 400'. But going around Winfrey Point, instead of up and over it, adds about 0.25-mile. So the entire loop now measures about 9.10 instead of 8.96.
Located near downtown Dallas, the Katy Trail is linking the people and places of Dallas in a powerful new way. The Trail runs from the West End and the American Airlines Center arena in the south, through the heart of urban Dallas to Knox Street and SMU in the north.
Located just northwest of the airport, Lake Grapevine is the home to the Lake Grapevine Runners And Walkers.
The scenic Campion Trail offers an eclectic mixture of natural and urban views as it travels through the Dallas suburb of Irving. Currently, the trail is comprised of separate north and south sections that together total 7 miles of wide, flat and paved pathway.
The Plano Pacers hold their monthly races on the last Saturday of every month at Bob Woodruff Park in Plano. Race distances range from one mile to 15K. Depending on the month, either one or two distances are available (see schedule). Attendance varies from 100 to 400.
